The tried-and-tested software for network diagnostics is up to date with BACnet Secure Connect
BACeye, the manufacturer-independent quasi-standard from MBS GmbH, is now ready for BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC). The "Swiss army knife" for commissioning, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of building automation networks, which is popular with customers, has been upgraded to the current revision 22 of the BACnet standard. "This makes our innovative tool ideal for use in networks that rely on the BACnet/SC security infrastructure," emphasizes Nils-Gunnar Fritz, Managing Director of MBS GmbH in Krefeld.

New BIG-EU Executive Board focuses on BACnet/SC in building automation
The member companies of the BACnet Interest Group (BIG-EU) have elected a new board as scheduled. It consists of Thomas Kurowski (Deputy Chairman, Siemens Schweiz AG), Frank Schubert (Treasurer, Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG), Nils-Gunnar Fritz (MBS GmbH) and Willem van der Werf (Honeywell). Karl-Heinz Belser (Johnson Controls Systems & Service GmbH), who has been active in the organization since its foundation in 1998, was appointed Chairman.

The US-based Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) has certified the Standard Gateway maxi | Mk II from MBS GmbH. After checking the technical data, the product descriptions and the device components, an auditor also inspected the proper assembly of the gateway on site. Similar to the European CE mark, the UL logo is an essential prerequisite for entering the North American market.

MBS presents first BACnet/SC routers in beta version

Since the spring, MBS GmbH has been offering routers for property operators who want to secure the communication connections of their BACnet networks with Secure Connect (BACnet/SC). The relatively new security infrastructure for authenticated, authorized and encrypted data transmission has been implemented in the UBR-01 | Mk II and UBR-02 routers. They route data packets not only between MSTP (RS-485) and IP, but can also connect data to BACnet/SC. In this way, different building automation networks can be connected to each other via a secure communication tunnel - without having to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or a VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network).

The decoupling from the proven standard gateways expands existing building automation systems with little effort
MBS GmbH now offers its customers the previously integrated M-Bus/USB level converter as a stand-alone device. It has been decoupled from the proven standard gateways and is equipped with both an input for M-Bus and a USB connection. "No development effort was required for this spin-off from our successful gateways," emphasizes Nils-Gunnar Fritz, Managing Director of MBS GmbH. "We are now passing this advantage on directly to our customers."
