Cost-effective consumption data acquisition with the M-Bus/USB level converter from MBS

The decoupling from the proven standard gateways expands existing building automation systems with little effort

MBS GmbH now offers its customers the previously integrated M-Bus/USB level converter as a stand-alone device. It has been decoupled from the proven standard gateways and is equipped with both an input for M-Bus and a USB connection. "No development effort was required for this spin-off from our successful gateways," emphasizes Nils-Gunnar Fritz, Managing Director of MBS GmbH. "We are now passing this advantage on directly to our customers."

Connection for 30 standard loads of 1.5 mA each
The level converter can be used wherever the measured values of all types of meters (electricity, gas, heat, water, etc.) are read out using the M-Bus standard and an M-Bus master with a free USB port is available. The level converter is designed for up to 30 standard loads with max. 1.5 mA and therefore for a maximum of 30 meters.

The level converter can be connected to an MBS Universal Gateway with USB port, which then converts the M-Bus data into another bus protocol.

Proven quality
However, additional meters can also be added to an existing building automation system. The level converter can be connected to a free USB port of an existing DDC, i.e. a component for control and regulation tasks, or a building management system based on the M-Bus protocol. It then takes over the transfer of M-Bus data from these additional meters.

The market for level converters in this performance class is large. However, the Krefeld-based building automation specialist is confident about the price-performance ratio of its new product. "We are offering our customers a product that has been tested over many years and works excellently at a very reasonable price," summarizes Fritz.
