MBS GmbH doubles the performance of the maxi gateway with the new maxi | Mk II model
/For demanding building automation applications: smaller dimensions and a maximum of 40,000 data points
Krefeld, July 09, 2019 - Krefeld-based MBS GmbH has completely redeveloped its tried-and-tested Gateway maxi - now called Mk II. The result is a hardware component that is only a third of the size of conventional devices. At the same time, its capacity of 20,000 or 40,000 data points is twice as high as that of its predecessor model. "There is currently no other gateway on the market that is so space-saving on the one hand and so powerful on the other," emphasizes Nils-Gunnar Fritz, Managing Director of MBS GmbH.
Less space, cabling and power required
The industrial and building automation expert had large properties in particular in mind when developing his new product. If, for example, a fire alarm system in a newly built university comprises a number of fire detectors in the single digits, each with 3 data points, entire batteries of control cabinets are required when installing conventional communication interfaces. The new Gateway maxi | Mk II with 20,000 data points in the basic version and 40,000 data points in the extended version not only reduces the number of hardware components - they also require less space, cabling and power. This results in cost savings when purchasing the system as well as when installing the control cabinets and operating the system.
The Gateway maxi | Mk II can be quickly and easily integrated into existing building automation systems. Thanks to its modular design, the familiar bus-specific add-on boards from MBS GmbH can be installed directly in the device. All common bus protocols such as KNX, Profinet, LON etc. are available. Manufacturer-specific communication protocols can also be added on request. Existing users will also be pleased that the firmware that has been tried and tested over many years is also used on the new devices - software training is therefore superfluous for them. Programming errors, which often occur with new firmware, are also virtually eliminated.
Successful field test
The Gateway maxi | Mk II has been in use in an industrial environment since December 2018. This field test was very successful. With its hard-wearing metal housing, the device is also suitable for robust environments.
Feedback from MBS partners and
customers was taken into account during development. It now seamlessly replaces its predecessor and the MBS Gateway 19". Users who already have one of the two products in use and want to add more can easily integrate the new Gateway maxi | Mk II into their system. "It fits seamlessly into our product range, but far surpasses the performance of both predecessor models," summarizes Fritz. "Our customers benefit from the usual product quality plus increased performance with the same handling." A 19'' version, optionally with redundant power supply units, is available on request.
