MBS joins the Thread Group

MBS GmbH has joined the Thread Group(www.threadgroup.org/). "We are keeping a close eye on the market and expect Thread to play a significant role in building automation in the medium term," says CEO Nils-Gunnar Fritz. "The membership should now set the course for actively shaping the future of building automation".

Collaboration for the Internet of Things

The Threadgroup is a consortium of companies from the building automation and IT sectors, which also includes major players such as Siemens, Apple and Google. With Thread, they are developing an open wireless protocol for energy-efficient wireless networks that combines native IP addressability with mesh network technology. The universal application language Dotdot is based on this network protocol and will standardize communication. "Thread and Dotdot are important future technologies for realizing the Internet of Things in building automation," says Fritz. "Our 30 years of experience with the integration of various bus protocols will contribute significantly to smooth integration with Thread."
