Alexandra Henczka
Head of the BACnet test laboratory
In a nutshell: What is your job at MBS?
In our DAkkS-accredited BACnet test laboratory, I am responsible for the conformity tests in the position of head.
What tasks do you deal with in your day-to-day work?
I spend a large part of my working day on administrative tasks such as scheduling laboratory staff, monitoring compliance tests, optimizing existing test specifications and formulations and checking test reports. The rest of my day is then filled with customer consultations and preparing quotations, and in the end I'm always happy when I can schedule myself for testing - that makes me particularly happy. :-)
Why BACnet of all things?
As one of the leading communication protocols in building automation, BACnet is powerful and customer devices in the BACnet test lab are like a "grab bag" - you never know exactly what to expect and what there is to solve and discover. This keeps things exciting and the standard is constantly evolving.
What is or was your personal highlight in the last 6 months?
I love traveling and my wanderlust regularly draws me to Gozo (an island near Malta with an area of 67 km²). I am fascinated by the people there and their serenity, the nature on the island and the different shades of blue underwater when diving. If there was enough air, I could be underwater all day ;-). Visiting Gozo is always one of my highlights of the year.
