MBS GmbH and VMware enter into partnership in the field of IoT
/Krefeld, September 20, 2017 - Krefeld-based MBS GmbH announces an Internet of Things (IoT) partnership with VMware, a global leader in cloud infrastructure and enterprise mobility. The two companies are jointly developing a system that enables the transfer of collected data from MBS to the VMware Pulse IoT Center platform, leading to the improvement of building automation through MBS gateways in the industrial sector. "We are very pleased about this partnership, which we also see as confirmation of the quality of our products," says Nils-Gunnar Fritz, CEO of MBS GmbH. "Together with VMware, we want to meet the needs of infrastructure users who want to move from local server infrastructures to cloud solutions."
Combination of leading technologies
The universal gateways from MBS are specially designed for industrial and building automation. As an interface for the various communication protocols in building automation, MBS offers the right solution for almost every requirement. This wide range was ultimately the decisive factor in the successful cooperation between MBS and VMware: the various data collected by MBS gateways can be transferred to VMware platforms.
VMware will port its Liota agent and the associated SDK to the MBS systems as part of this partnership. In a second step, MBS will establish the connection within the Universal Gateways. The result is a system that can be used to collect data, transfer it securely and process it on the VMware IoT platform. Conversely, the VMware Pulse IoT Center platform will enable the MBS gateways to receive firmware updates and configuration changes. "It has always been VMware's goal to provide our customers with the best possible solution for their specific requirements. Competent and long-established partners are essential for this. We are delighted to be able to offer high-quality IoT solutions together through our partnership with MBS," says Matthias Schorer, who heads up IoT business development in EMEA for VMware.
Building automation as a package
The advantages of the Universal Gateways for the user - such as flexibility in the number of data points and configuration, upgrade capabilities, the integrated web interface and much more - will of course be retained. "Our product range has been established on the market for decades for good reason," says CEO Fritz. "Together with VMware, we will be offering our customers a complete package for building automation in the future: the combination of our proven Universal Gateways with the virtualization solutions of a strong global partner."
