In a nutshell: What is your job at MBS?

I program software for the MBS Universal Gateways. In addition to developing "classic" protocol drivers, I also ensure the connection and configuration of the gateways via clouds.

What excites you about your job?

Looking for and developing the perfect solution for a task inspires me - at the same time, I can constantly develop myself further, which is a win-win situation and contributes to motivation. The job is so much fun and extremely varied. There are days when I program software for cloud connectivity, where large amounts of data can be exchanged, and then there are days when I work on the connection to smaller devices that are connected directly via cable - and all on the same hardware.

Why building automation and why MBS?

I have to admit, I was surprised myself when I came across a job advertisement in building automation out of nowhere - but then I found the topic immediately interesting: In my spare time, I had already used a Raspberry Pi, Arduinos and ZigBee devices to make my home smart. I had little idea about building automation at the time 😊.

What was important for me back then was that MBS was very likeable from the very beginning, on a human and "practical" level: even the application process was absolutely uncomplicated and quick. Even now, with Corona and working from home, the line to the company management or colleagues is very short and challenges are solved quickly and easily with a great willingness to help - everyone is interested in supporting.

How do you recharge your batteries?

There are various things: on the one hand, I play saxophone in a band. We play hard alternative post-rock. Otherwise, I like to play or watch competitive computer games with my friends.
