MBS makes the ctrlX system from Bosch Rexroth BACnet-capable

The building automation specialist will be presenting the brand new development for BACnet communication with ctrlX Automation for the first time at the joint stand "ctrlX World Partner Area" at SPS 2023

Krefeld, October 24, 2023 - MBS GmbH will be participating in Bosch Rexroth's "ctrlX World Partner Area" at SPS 2023. At the joint stand at the international trade fair for smart and digital automation in Nuremberg, the Krefeld-based company will be showcasing a solution that complements ctrlX Automation with the BACnet bus protocol for the first time. "We are delighted that Bosch Rexroth has brought us on board to make ctrlX Automation fit for BACnet communication," says Nils-Gunnar Fritz, CEO of MBS GmbH. "The SPS is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the benefits of this collaboration to users."

App for BACnet communication

As an automation solution, ctrlX transcends the boundaries between machine control, IT and the Internet of Things. In building technology, the system controls, regulates, monitors and optimizes all trades automatically and comprehensively. Designed as a modular system, it integrates the necessary hardware, software and services into a modular overall system. The highlight here is the app technology, which allows the range of functions to be adapted as required. This also applies to the BACnet bus protocol, which can be easily downloaded via an app from the ctrlX store and integrated into the overall system. MBS GmbH will be presenting this app as a co-exhibitor.

The developer is Krefeld-based CS-Lab. The service company for data transmission in building automation with BACnet has planned two stages for the app: a profile for the use of an Advanced Application Controller (BAAC) and one for a Building Controller (BBC). Completion and certification of the second stage are scheduled for summer 2024. At the joint stand, the Krefeld-based company will now show how BACnet communication with ctrlX is actually implemented via the app.

Fully automatic configuration option

"The app will be very user-friendly," Fritz reveals in advance. "This is because we are equipping it with a fully automatic configuration option that allows all data from ctrlX to be mapped without much effort." All the user has to do is install the app and enter their data points - and BACnet communication can begin.

With currently around 25 million devices worldwide, BACnet is the most widely used communication standard in building automation. "MBS and its partners have been active in the BACnet world for almost 25 years," emphasizes Fritz. "We are therefore very proud that we can build a bridge from industrial automation to building technology with this new development."
