Universal gateways from MBS certified for BACnet/SC plus Revision 22

BACnet/SC plus Revision 22 certified

Tested quality for encrypted building automation

Krefeld, April 05, 2022 - The proven universal gateways from MBS have received the certificate for BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) according to revision 22. After TÜV Süd tested the hardware and issued a corresponding test report, the devices have now received the certificate from the BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL). "Since the most widely used bus protocol for building automation was supplemented with the Secure Connect security infrastructure in revision 22 in 2019, we have successively adapted our products and services," says Nils-Gunnar Fritz, Managing Director of MBS GmbH. "We are delighted that the standard conformity of our universal gateways has now been confirmed. Based on the certificate, our devices have also been certified by the AMEV in accordance with profile AS-B."

Standard conformity confirmed

The universal gateways serve as an interface between the various communication protocols in industrial and building automation. The flexible, high-performance hardware not only mediates the exchange of data between all important bus protocols, but also ensures the encryption of data packets with BACnet/SC thanks to its new firmware. As revision 22 has been designed to be downwards compatible, existing devices in a BACnet network can also communicate with the newly certified gateways.

Increased network security through authorized, authenticated data access and encrypted information exchange is more than just a trend for property operators. Rather, the merging of building automation with information technology, cloud-based services and legal requirements are creating a need for action. Fritz: "This is where our products and services come in, enabling property operators to make their building technology fit for digitalization using BACnet/SC."
