MBS and Mervisoft: Innovative TRIC plug-in enables automated testing of BACnet networks

Krefeld, May 21, 2019 - In cooperation with Wiesbaden-based Mervisoft GmbH, MBS GmbH has developed a plugin that makes the TRIC planning tool usable for BACnet networks. "This additional module for our BACeye 2.0 Explorer considerably simplifies project controlling in building automation for planners and integrators," expects Nils-Gunnar Fritz, CEO of MBS GmbH. "This is because it brings together the planning target for the construction of large properties with the actual status of the completed system."

Automated test procedure

In order to equip large properties with networked automation technology in a functional manner, the data from a wide range of trades is increasingly being mapped using the BACnet communication standard. There can be gaps between the original plan and the technical implementation. Checking whether the plans have actually been implemented used to be a lengthy and time-consuming process. However, simply waiting to see whether the system works as desired can lead to great dissatisfaction on the part of the client.

The result of the cooperation between MBS and Mervisoft simplifies the testing process considerably. It is based on the proven planning tool TRIC, which has established itself as the standard for planners and contractors in building automation in recent years. TRIC can be integrated as an option in BACeye, which acts as an explorer to access, display and analyze BACnet devices, their objects and properties. This means that the data in existing networks can now be compared with the planning. Conversely, the specifications can also be used to organize the BACnet data. BACeye can also be linked to the BACnet data points by accessing the system data from the TRIC project planning. It is also possible to check the data content in the automation stations.
