FAQ
+ Why should I certify my products or have a conformity test carried out?
As the licensor, the DALI Alliance (Digital Illumination Interface Alliance DiiA) sets the regulatory requirement that only certified devices may bear the DALI designation. With the conformity check, the manufacturers of devices for electronic lighting control in the industrial and commercial sector fulfill this rule of the global lighting manufacturer consortium. After a successful check, the devices receive a corresponding certificate.
+ How long is the certificate valid for?
The certificate is valid as long as no changes are made to the hardware or software of the device in question.
+ How can I contact you if I would like to have a DALI test carried out?
Please address your test inquiries, test orders and other correspondence relating to BACnet testing directly to the head of our test laboratory:

+ What documents do I need for my DALI test?
Basically, you should tell us which parts of the 62386 standard are implemented in the device to be tested. We also need a technical description of the environment in which the device is connected and what needs to be done to trigger certain functions. Depending on the respective implementations, we may ask you to provide us with additional devices for the test - for example, a suitable LED lamp if we are to certify an LED driver. We have also created questionnaires for testing various parts, which you will receive together with our offer.
+ What costs are incurred for a DALI test?
The costs depend on the functional scope of the device that we take into our laboratory for testing. We will be happy to provide you with a specific quotation. Please send us the documents mentioned above.
+ Are there pre-testing tools?
No special pre-testing tools are provided in the DALI standard. Pre-testing is generally possible with us, but is not cheaper than normal testing.
+ What is tested in detail during the DALI test?
The DiiA specifies strict requirements for carrying out the device tests resulting from the IEC 62386 standard (digitally addressable interface for lighting). This concerns Part 1xx General Requirements, which consists of standard specifications for the system (Part 101), the control gear (Part 102) or the input devices (Part 103). We are obliged to check Part 101 in all cases, Part 102 for control gear and Part 103 for input devices. Depending on the device, a further part is added from Part 2xx (Special requirements for control gear), for example Part 209 for colour and colour temperature control. In addition, a part in Part 3XX (Special requirements for control gear) is checked for input devices.
+ How do I get an appointment for DALI testing and is it possible to have my device tested at short notice?
We would be happy to advise you on the current possibilities. Talk to us, we are here for you!
+ Is there an application form for DALI testing?
No, there is no form. Instead, please send us as much information as possible about your device, as described above.
+ How long does the DALI test of my devices take?
Testing a DALI device normally takes three to four days and a maximum of one week.
+ What happens if errors occur during the DALI test?
In this case, we will inform you immediately and provide you with all the information you need to rectify the fault. The entire part in which the error occurred must then be tested again.
+ Is it possible to cancel or interrupt the DALI test?
We can always arrange an interruption. Please simply inform us of your wishes. If you cancel, we would only charge for the work we have already done up to the time of your notification.
+ Can I attend my DALI test on site?
Yes, you can. In addition, handing over the devices in our laboratory is definitely a support that we are happy to accept.
+ What are the next steps if the device tests positive?
Once the tests have been successfully completed, we will issue a test report with which you will receive the DALI certificate from the DiiA. You can then have the device listed with the DiiA. We can also do this for you on request.
