Universal BACnet Router for BACnet/SC
UBR-02 XT
Connect BACnet networks. Merge separate IP ranges.
The MBS Universal BACnet Router UBR-02 XT connects BACnet/MS/TP via RS-485, BACnet/Ethernet, BACnet/IP, and BACnet/SC. With its two LAN ports, it can also connect two separate IP subnets within a single BACnet network.
Two RS485 interfaces and one RS232 interface enable the connection of additional serial network segments. This makes the UBR-02 XT suitable for large-scale BACnet infrastructures with multiple IP and MS/TP segments.
A faster CPU and more RAM provide the performance foundation for large BACnet networks. The UBR-02 XT can process large amounts of data and be used as a hub in a BACnet/SC network.
Connects Two Separate IP RangesIn larger properties, BACnet devices are often distributed across different IP networks. The UBR-02 XT connects two separate IP networks via its two LAN ports. This allows BACnet data to be exchanged between the network segments. At the same time, the router supports communication with BACnet/MS/TP devices via its two RS485 interfaces.
Gradually Migrate Existing BACnet/IP Networks to BACnet/SC
Large BACnet infrastructures often cannot be fully migrated to BACnet/SC all at once. The UBR-02 XT therefore enables the targeted migration of individual network segments.
Within a building, communication can initially continue to use BACnet/IP. Connections between buildings or selected network segments can already be switched to BACnet/SC.
This allows existing components to continue to be used, and individual areas to be modernized step by step. It is not necessary to replace all of the existing hardware at once. This makes the transition to encrypted BACnet communication cost-effective.
BACnet/SC Hub for Large Data Volumes
The UBR-02 XT features a faster CPU and more RAM than the previous generation of routers. The new hardware enables the processing of large data volumes within extensive BACnet infrastructures.
In a BACnet/SC network, the UBR-02 XT can be used as a hub. This makes it suitable for large properties and networked building structures where BACnet/SC is to be implemented in phases.
Secure Element, Secure Boot, and Encrypted Data
An integrated Secure Element enhances the security architecture of the UBR-02 XT. Digital certificates can be securely stored in this separate hardware module.
The secure element also provides the foundation for a secure boot process. This makes it possible to detect tampering with the bootloader or kernel.
Encrypting the entire file system on the SD card makes it possible to store the system, as well as customer-specific user and configuration data, in encrypted form.
Encrypted Communication and Authorized Access
The UBR-02 XT supports encrypted communication via BACnet/SC. Communication is secured using TLS. Digital certificates are used to identify the participating devices and enable authorized access within the BACnet/SC network.
Configuration and Analysis via the Web Interface
The entire configuration process is accessible via the integrated web interface. This allows settings to be configured without the need for additional configuration software. The web interface also provides the necessary features for BACnet/SC, data exchange between devices, encryption, and the management of the required certificates.
Detecting Slave Devices in BACnet/MS/TP Networks
The UBR-02 XT supports slave proxy mode and the automatic detection of slave devices in BACnet/MS/TP networks.

Made in Germany
The XT Series circuit boards are manufactured in Europe. Final assembly takes place at the MBS facility in Krefeld.
MBS develops its own gateway platform and supports projects from selection and planning through commissioning to long-term support.
BACnet compliance. Independently certified.
The UBR-02 XT is certified by the independent certification body WSPCert in accordance with DIN EN ISO 16484-5 (BACnet Protocol Revision 26).
The certification confirms compliance with the tested BACnet requirements and provides a reliable basis for planning and integration.
